Shirley Ann Taylor was born May 7, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Iverson Sr and Emma Logan, as the seventh of nine children. In 3rd grade, she met and would chase home her school girl crush, who would become her best friend, husband, and the love of her life, William E. Taylor, Sr. They were married on January 30th, 1960.
She supported her husband wholeheartedly as he pursued his career, serving as a member of the US Air Force. They grew their family, having 3 children, and together they travelled the world.
Shirley was a stay home mom as her family was always her priority, especially focusing on the care of her special needs daughter.
She enjoyed 35 happy years of marriage, before the untimely passing of her husband in 1995. Shirley then pulled from her enormous strength and evolved her life. Having never driven before, she learned to drive, worked two jobs, and went back to school. She earned her Certificate of Completion in Office Technology from Vernon Regional Junior College in 2000.
She worked several jobs including retail at Sears. She thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with co-workers and making new friends. When she joined the Wichita Falls Police Department, she felt a sense of accomplishment. She worked in several key positions, including the Records Department, along-side the detectives and officers. She enjoyed their camaraderie and good fun teasing. She devoted over 20 years of service before retiring in December 2018.
She is preceded in death by her parents Iverson Sr and Emma Logan; husband, William Taylor, Sr; brother, Iverson Logan, Jr; sisters, Edith Beecher, Kathryn Randolph, Jacqueline Ware, and Roslyn Logan.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, William Taylor, Jr, Kim Taylor, and Jacqueline E. Taylor; five grandchildren Erica Eberhart, Ronald Taylor, Jacqueline A. Taylor, Keisha Taylor and William Taylor III; three great-grandchildren, Jaaziah Eberhart, William C. L. Taylor and Aubree Williams; three sisters, Ivy Scott, Nina Dowdy, and Norma Warwell; long-time companion and care-giver, Karl Myles and a host of other family and friends.
Shirley was caring, giving, and had quite a sense of humor. We admire her strength, character and resilience through life. She was a blessing to all who knew her and will truly be missed.

I so enjoyed working with Shirley. One of my memories was when I had a cough and she told me to take some bourbon, honey, & Lemon mix it up and take a little sip every time I coughed. I did this and it did help! She was a great person as I know the family & friends know this! I'm so glad our paths meet, and will always remember her when I fix my cough brew up. So very sorry for your and our loose, but she is now enjoying everlasting life with all our other loved ones and we will see her again someday. God's Blessings Always Always!
