Roger Cecil Scott, Jr. was born on April 10, 1933 to Easter J. Scott and Roger Cecil Scott, Sr. in Gilmer, TX. He was the oldest of 5 children.

Roger attended Bruce Elementary/High School in Gilmer. He attended Lake Providence Baptist Church where he dedicated his life to God. His parents moved to Amarillo, TX in 1948 where he attended Patton High School and then Carver High School. He was an exemplary student, leader and teacher at Patton/Carver. He was in the first graduating class of Carver. He received a full scholarship to Texas College in Tyler TX. He met his college sweetheart Eliza Ruth, pledged to fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. and graduated. He was then drafted into the Army and trained in El Paso, TX. While on leave he went on to marry his college sweetheart, Eliza Ruth. To this union four children were born. After his tour was over he relocated his family to Amarillo, where he worked several jobs until he was hired by AISD to teach at Carver High School. He transferred to Palo Duro High School to teach math and coach JV football. After several years at Palo Duro, he went on to work at West Texas State (WTAMU), as the first black administrator. He received his Masters in Education at WT. He worked 26 years as Director of Student Services and Program Director of Upward Bound. He influenced hundreds of students to further their education and to make a lasting impact. He retired to be caretaker of his wife, until her death in 2001. In 2003 he married Nadine Warren of Wichita Falls, TX.

Roger Scott was extremely involved in the community serving as the leader of numerous organizations, such as President of the WCP chapters for both Amarillo,TX and Wichita Falls, TX. He served as Chairman of the Deacon board for Jenkins Chapel, St. John in Amarillo and Wichita Falls. He was the Polmarch of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Emerald Alum Chapter. He was president of NAACP in Amarillo, TX and Wichita Falls, TX. He received numerous awards and accolades throughout the years and spoke at US Congress for educational funding.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Easter Scott & Roger Scott,Sr.; wife, Eliza Ruth Scott; daughters, Gena Scott, Gale Mayberry and DeShon Scott and brother, Samuel Scott.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine Warren; sons, Greg Scott and Raynard Scott; step-son, Marcus Warren; grandchildren, Gina Mayberry, Armon Scott and Raynard Scott, II; siblings, Gene Scott, Bruce Scott and Willie Atkins; and a host of extended family from the Scott, Holloman, Jones, and Neal Families.
