Mary Alice Hunter (Clemons) was born in Cedar Creek, Texas on March 7, 1917 to Lonnie Sr. and Savanah Clemons. Mary attended school in Bastrop County prior to moving to Austin, TX. She married Elbert Hunter of Bastrop, TX and moved to Wichita Falls, TX giving birth to a daughter, Gladys Hunter. She attended Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church and Eastside Baptist Church for many years. Mary was an active member at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowshipping with her mission sisters until her health declined.

She crocheted beautiful blankets and pot holders. She received many compliments on her floral garden and yard. Her baking skills were exceptional, which included cakes, cookies, muffins and banana pudding.

Mary lived in Wichita Falls until her death, October 25, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents Lonnie Sr. and Savannah Clemons; Siblings, Bertha Lee Nelson (Wichita Falls, TX), Willie Sampson Gage (Austin, TX), Lonnie Clemons Jr. (Austin, TX), Lee Arthur Clemons, Sr. (Austin, TX), Lucille James Clemons, Marjorie Price (Midland, TX), and Savannah Clemons (Wichita Falls, TX). Daughter, Gladys Hunter-Lewis (Austin, TX); grandchildren, Alva D. Price (Austin, TX) and Gregory Lewis (Memphis, TN).

She is survived by her grandson, Michael Lewis (Austin, TX); great-grandchildren, Jessica Price (Houston, TX) and Quincy Ramirez (Midland, TX); 9 great-great grandchildren and 2 great-great-great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Mary was well loved, and she will be extremely missed.
