Herman Shaughnessy Caldwell a proud Veteran of the United States Army peacefully departed this earthly life on December 15, 2024 in Wichita Falls, Texas at the age of 76. Herman was born June 30, 1948 to the late Jack Louis Caldwell and Marjean Roddy in Amarillo, Texas.

Herman united with the Catholic Church in his early years. He graduated from Carter High School in Amarillo, Texas. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army; where he attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. He retired from the Army in 1992 after his last tour of duty in the Gulf War ~ Operation Desert Storm. He then enlisted in the Army Reserve, while working for the US Postal Service. In 2006, Herman received a Service Award from USPS to commemorate his more than 35 years of government service.

He met and married Phillis Bobo on August 1, 1980. They truly became best friends and the love of each other lives for the last 44 years. Together they raised four daughters Yvette, Micka, LaQuintia and Kimberly.

Herman was a pillar of strength, a beacon of love, a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing ever moment spent with his wife, children and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Herman S. and Minnie Mae Matthews; parents, Jack L. Caldwell and Marjean Roddy; brother, Roddy O. Caldwell; sister. Jacqueline Mack and daughter. Yvette Wilson.

Herman leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Phillis; daughters, LaQuintia (Joe) Barron, Micka, Kimberly of Wichita Falls; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humor will be missed.
