Herman Lee Sanders Jr., 76, passed away on October 13, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. He was born on February
9, 1948 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Herman Lee Sanders, Sr. and Ernie Mae (Holt) Waters.

Herman graduated from Booker T. Washington High School
in 1966 in Wichita Falls, Texas and attended East Texas State
University in Commerce, Texas. He served as a member and
President of the Northeast Lions Club of Wichita Falls, worked
for Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG) for 30 years and was a Loaned Executive for the United Way through PPG for many years.
Herman was considered a pillar in his community due to his activism and devotion for spreading unity among all cultures via lectures and serving in various civic organizations. Herman was best known for making bold statements in the wearing of African attire and encouraging inclusion and love through his poetry.

He married Sallie Marie Gordon in 1966 and to this union three children were born (Dion, Darin, Degie). He leaves to cherish
his memory his wife, Sallie; son, Darin (Yolanda), daughter Degie; six siblings from Kansas City, MO, Angela Hollins,
Beverly Williams (William) Bobbie Jean Waldron, Paul Frazier
(deceased), Larry Sanders (Renita), Michael Sanders (Monica),
Tonya Henton of Houston, TX, Wanda Hill (Karl) of Timpson, TX, Gary Wilson (Ann) of Wichita Falls TX, Janet Petty (deceased) of Wichita Falls TX, Richard Petty (deceased) of Dallas, TX, Sammy Petty of Garland, TX, Alvin Sanders (Margie) (deceased) Waco, TX, Marilyn Taylor of Waco, TX, and Melvin Sanders (Carla)
of Garland, TX; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-six greatgrandchildren; a host of nieces nephews and cousins other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Herman Lee Sanders, Sr. and Ernie Mae (Holt) Waters; his son (Dion) and grandson
(Marcus).

Herman leaves this world as a loved and well-respected man. He was a man of unshakable conviction as well as integrity and honor.
